Becoming an artist of scenes of Michigan, was a transition of living in other states and learning I was happiest when I was back in Michigan. I had heard someone once say, “My roots go deep.” and I thought that really embodied my feelings about living in Michigan, from my childhood of traveling for summer vacations to the Copper Country, crossing Lake Michigan first on a car ferry to the first experience of crossing the Mackinac Bridge. While my home was in the lower peninsula, we were surrounded by lakes Huron, Michigan, and Erie and numerous inland lakes as well. Cities such as Traverse City, Saugatuck, Au Gres, Plymouth, or Mackinaw City each possess their own charm and where special memories are made.

The Mackinac Bridge is one of the three largest expansion bridges in the world, spanning five miles, as it connects Michigan's lower and upper peninsulas. Vivid blues and greens of the Great Lakes offset the soft sandy beach in this painting.

A Giclee' print on canvas using archival inks, of my original painting of The Mighty Mac. A lone seagull sits on the beach in the forefront overlooking this awesome structure. Done primarily with a palette knife, the texture of strokes is visible on the print, which is gallery-wrapped and ready to hang. No framing is required.
